Srinagar, Feb 09 (KNO): Police in Budgam and Bandipora Tuesday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that in Budgam, officers at checkpoints established at Sebdan bridge intercepted three suspicious individuals identified as Muzamil Ahmed Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Wani both residents of Bathar Budgam and Rafi Ahmed Dar of Naidgam Soibugh.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 10grams of Heroin, 02 litres of Codeine Phosphate and 74 Tablets of Alprazolam from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. A case under FIR number 28/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated,” police spokesman said.
He said that in Bandipora, based on specific information a police party from Police Post Nowgam headed by DO Nowgam established a checkpoint at Ganastan village and intercepted one person riding a Scooter bearing registration number DL13SH-0280.
“He has been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Beig of Ganastan Sumbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 15kgs of Charas powder from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized,” he said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 14/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been initiated.
